Using microbial electrode method (standard method). The microbial membrane is fastened onto the membrane oxygen electrode to form a microbial electrode. The instrument adopts a flow measurement method, and the microbial membrane is fixed by the flow measurement cell component. Due to the proportional relationship between the output current of the oxygen electrode and the content of dissolved oxygen, when a liquid (buffer solution) without task organic matter passes through the flow cell, the assimilation effect of microorganisms is minimal, resulting in almost no reduction in dissolved oxygen passing through the microbial membrane.
When a solution containing organic matter passes through the circulation pool, the assimilation of microorganisms becomes abnormally active, consuming more dissolved oxygen, resulting in a decrease in the amount of dissolved oxygen passing through the microbial membrane. The change in dissolved oxygen content directly causes a year-on-year change in the output of the oxygen electrode, which proves that the change in output current is proportional to the content of organic matter in the sample, and thus calculates the BOD value.
